Range Rover diagnostics

Accurate investigation for complex vehicles

AJ 4X4 provides Range Rover repairs and fault diagnosis from our workshop in Liphook. We work on Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, Evoque and earlier models, combining mechanical inspection with diagnostic testing where appropriate.

Modern Range Rovers have interconnected suspension, drivetrain, engine and electrical systems. A single warning message can be triggered by several different causes, so replacing the first component named by a fault code is not a reliable repair method. We assess the symptoms, inspect the vehicle and confirm the likely cause before proposing substantial work.

We explain the findings and obtain approval before progressing beyond the agreed diagnostic or repair scope.

Common repair work

Range Rover faults we investigate

  • Air suspension warnings, uneven ride height and compressor concerns.
  • Engine management lights, reduced performance and starting problems.
  • Coolant leaks, overheating and repeated low-coolant warnings.
  • Brake wear, vibration, seized components and parking brake faults.
  • Battery drain, charging faults, sensors and intermittent electrical issues.
  • Gearbox, transfer box, differential and driveline noise or vibration.
  • Oil leaks, turbocharger faults and abnormal exhaust smoke.
  • Steering, suspension and wheel bearing wear.

This list is not a diagnosis. Similar symptoms can have different causes depending on the model and engine, which is why the vehicle needs to be tested before a repair is priced accurately.

Do not ignore repeated warnings

Early diagnosis can prevent secondary damage and reduce the risk of an inconvenient breakdown.

Range Rover repair FAQs

Can you diagnose air suspension faults?

Yes. Air suspension concerns can involve leaks, height sensors, compressors, wiring or control issues, so testing is needed before parts are ordered.

Can warning lights be cleared?

Fault memory can be cleared after the cause has been addressed. Clearing a warning without repairing the underlying issue is unlikely to provide a lasting solution.

Do you service Range Rovers too?

Yes. Routine maintenance and repair work can often be combined. See Range Rover servicing.
