Automatic transmission servicing

Land Rover & Range Rover Gearbox Megaflush

A controlled, machine-assisted automatic transmission fluid exchange using the correct specification of fluid for the vehicle and gearbox. We assess the transmission before recommending the service.

More than a drain and refill

What the megaflush process does

A conventional sump drain can leave a significant quantity of old fluid inside the torque converter, valve body, cooler and transmission passages. A suitable machine-assisted exchange circulates replacement fluid through the transmission in a controlled process.

Before work starts, we identify the gearbox, check the vehicle for relevant fault codes, inspect for leaks and consider the service history. The correct procedure, fluid and replacement parts vary by transmission.

  • Automatic transmission fluid exchanged to the correct specification.
  • Fluid condition assessed before and during the procedure.
  • Filter, sump pan, seals and fasteners replaced where the service specification requires them.
  • Final level check carried out at the correct temperature and operating condition.

Our process

Assessment first, service second

1

Identify

We confirm the vehicle, transmission type, mileage and available service history.

2

Diagnose

We check for fault codes, leaks, abnormal behaviour and signs of internal wear.

3

Exchange

Where suitable, the old fluid is exchanged using the correct machine process and fluid specification.

4

Verify

Fluid level, temperature and operation are checked before the vehicle is returned.

Important technical advice

A megaflush is maintenance, not an internal gearbox repair

A fluid exchange cannot repair worn clutch packs, damaged bearings, valve-body faults, mechatronic problems or other internal damage. A transmission that is already slipping, banging into gear or carrying serious fault codes may need diagnosis or repair instead.

We will not recommend a megaflush simply as a gamble. The vehicle and gearbox condition must be considered first.

Gearbox megaflush FAQ

Common questions

What is a gearbox megaflush?

It is a controlled, machine-assisted exchange of automatic transmission fluid. It replaces substantially more old fluid than a simple sump drain, subject to the gearbox being suitable.

Will it cure poor gear changes?

Fresh fluid can improve operation where degraded or incorrect fluid is contributing to the symptoms, but it cannot repair mechanical or hydraulic damage. We assess the vehicle before recommending the service.

Do you replace the filter or sump pan?

Where required by the transmission design, we can replace the filter, sump pan, seals and associated fasteners using appropriate parts.

Can every Land Rover or Range Rover have a megaflush?

No. Suitability depends on the exact transmission, condition, mileage, symptoms and service history. We confirm this before the work is booked.

How much does it cost?

Our gearbox megaflush with filter is £780. We still confirm the exact gearbox specification, suitability and required parts against the registration number before booking.
